Project Overview
AusCaulking delivered a specialist internal caulking package at the NSW RNA Research and Pilot Manufacturing Facility at Macquarie University.
The project is a first-of-its-kind Australian facility designed to support local RNA research, clinical trials and advanced manufacturing. Our works spanned office areas, cleanrooms, cool rooms, laboratories and controlled internal environments where finish quality and sealing continuity were critical.
The value of the package reflects both the scale of the works and the specialist nature of the environments involved, with caulking completed across controlled production spaces, laboratories, cool rooms and detailed internal finishes.
Works included:
Products & Materials
Additional white, black and translucent architectural sealants as required
Because the facility includes controlled manufacturing and cleanroom environments, material selection and traceability were particularly important. Brand, model, colour and pack size were recorded to support the project’s documentation requirements.
The Detail
The challenge on this project was precision within a highly controlled environment. The works were delivered across cleanrooms, cool rooms, laboratories and specialist production spaces, with quality expectations significantly higher than on a standard commercial fitout.
As the project progressed, access protocols also tightened. Dedicated work boots, disposable shoe covers and restricted entry to cleanroom areas were introduced as the facility moved towards certified clean conditions and ISO testing. At the same time, our team had to maintain production across detailed internal joints, often working from ladders at ceiling height while coordinating around other trades, equipment deliveries and changing access restrictions.
AusCaulking delivered a substantial internal sealing package across the facility as different controlled areas became available. The quality of the workmanship and the team’s on-site methodology were both positively recognised by Hindmarsh and surrounding trades, reinforcing the standard required for specialist cleanroom and laboratory environments.
This project sits at the intersection of construction quality and scientific precision. The facility is designed to support RNA research and manufacturing for new vaccines and therapeutics, so the standard of the built environment matters in a very real way. For AusCaulking, it demonstrates experience working in environments where sealing is not simply an architectural finish. In cleanrooms, controlled production spaces and specialist laboratories, consistency, cleanliness, material control and joint integrity become part of the performance of the facility itself.
Additional Notes
The broader facility represents a major NSW investment in advanced biomedical manufacturing and is intended to reduce reliance on international RNA supply while supporting local development of new treatments and clinical trials.
